Not everyone can find his or her goal in life and taste the variety and richness of life. It was not until I entered that mysterious forest did I realize the goal of my life. It is since then that I truly feel that life is much more abundant and profound than any literature works. This is because so many things are written by life.

The stories told here are true stories. They are dribs and drabs of the most glorious six years of practice in my youth. They are records of the sound of my life. These experiences largely extend the meaning of my life.

The two thousand days in the forest marks my most vigorous youth staying with the mysterious forest forever.

As a professional cameraman taking pictures of wild animals, I spent six years in China’s panda nature preservation zone. I write down these stories for these animals, and for myself, too.

One friend of mine once remarks that “a cameraman cannot be good at writing.” But I regard writing as a moment of rest. It would be pain for me if I do not touch the camera. I think by pictures. I have faith in my works. I do not need to play jeu de mots, for I talk by my heart. And I am certain with one thing. That is, there is something that a writer cannot put to words, something that is written by life, something that could only be understood by heart.
